[Creation ] February 28, 2008 14:42

Creation; this is the subject of much debate. There are many different opinions about creation and the age of the earth, as an example just go to a search on the internet.

I plan to write a series of post about this subject. Some things I will write you may not agree with. I would hope and pray you would tend to agree however. I want this to be laid out exactly how God wants it to be presented. I will try to keep each post around one or two pages at a time.

Why can’t we just take the Genesis account of creation and be finished with it? Why do we want to make the earth older than it is? Why do we want to be in confusion about the dinosaurs?

I can answer these questions simply it is because the devil is the author of confusion. We could leave it at that but for the sake of argument we will explore these questions and hopefully several more.

To let you know where I stand, I believe the Geneses account describes a literal six day creation with the seventh as a day of rest.

I have heard people say that with God a day is as a thousand years. This may be true, but if so why wouldn’t the Geneses account have been clearer. (The Geneses account is very clear on creation week.) People also want to use this argument to try and prove that the earth is older than it is.

Just so you know where we are in time, from Adam and Eve until today is just over six thousand years that’s it. Now let’s say that God used a thousand years as a day in creation that would only add at most 7 thousand years to the age of the earth. If my math is correct that is as most 13 thousand. So how can you say the earth is millions and even billions of years old? If you believe in God and if you are subscribing to the theory that it took about 7 thousand years or longer to create the earth how are you dealing with the first five verses of the bible?

Genesis 1

1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.  2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.  4And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. 5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Did I read that correctly? The evening and the morning were the first day? So from the very first day light and darkness were separated therefore the beginning of time, not only time but days as we have days now.

What about dinosaurs? Science tells us they lived billions of years ago. I will try and address and answer the question of dinosaurs in the next post.

A web site you might want to check out is http://www.users.bigpond.com/rdoolan/index.html this site also deals with creation.

Until next time feel free to leave comments. May God Bless You!

It was a much needed get away from the world trip. I feel rested and ready.
One other reminder I plan on making my first post on creation this week. Please help me be in prayer that it will be what God wants.
May God bless you.

Good morning all. I haven’t been able to update as often as I wanted to this week and this will be a short post.

I just wanted to let you know that I am beginning work on a series of post that will talk about creation. I’m talking about creation from the bible, not the world. I may use some outside sources from science that backs up the biblical creation; that’s right science.

If you know of any reliable sources feel free to send a link to me.

Look for the first post one day next week and please be prayerful that it will give glory to God.

In a side note my family and I have a chance to take a short trip this weekend to Pigeon Forge. It will be a whirl wind I’m sure but it is a chance to get away that is long overdue. If you get a moment please help us pray for traveling mercies that we will get there safe and that we would be safe while we are there and that we would return home safe.

Until next week may God bless you.

What have you done for God today? Me not enough; have you ever noticed how some days it is easier to live for Him than it is others?

God never promised us that our lives would be a bed of roses.

I do want to let you know that it is not a sin to be tempted. The sin comes when you fall for the temptation.

Jesus was tempted by the tempter himself when he was in human form and hungry. A man at his weakest. What was his example? He said Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”

At times when we are at our weakest we should remember how our Lord handled temptation. We have the power to rebuke the devil if we choose…

[Marriage ] February 14, 2008 10:25

Today is Valentines Day. I pray each of you have someone special you can share it with. You know God is good. The blessing he has afforded me with I can never thank him enough, even something as simple as breathing. How often do we take salvation for granted? Jesus suffered and died so we could have salvation.

This morning I wanted to spend a few minutes on Valentines Day. I used to think that it was just an excuse to pick someone’s pocket a world made holiday to boost sales in stores, and what do I do each year; I wait until the last second and go pick over the left over gifts in the middle of a crowd of other men who waited until it was almost too late as well.

This year I decided not to wait until the last second to shop. I picked up my simple gifts last week. Candy for the boys a small teddy bear with a few pieces of candy for the little girl and a larger teddy bear with more candy for my wife. It was nothing big just something to express that they are all special.

This year my wife and I will be married for 18 years. We haven’t always seen eye to eye on everything, she has been aggravating on several things and I sure she’s let me off easy compared to the aggravation Im sure I have caused her.

This morning she is the reason I set here at the computer writing this post. She truly is my soul mate. I truly am blessed more than I deserve with a woman that gives me her love for I really feel loved by her. She is a real gift from God. She is something real, with real love and affection. She completes me.

I know that the devil has things in the world to hinder the work of God and the work of marriage. One of those things is the internet. When used properly it is one of the greatest tools ever invented. It also provides a place for predators of all kinds. Some target children some target men neither are a good thing.

Men get trapped in an addiction to porn and I call it an addiction. Have you ever known a man that viewed porn regularly? It is nearly impossible to break this addiction unless there is some accountability set up, a lot of prayer or just taking his access to the internet away. The porn sites are so easy to access.

I believe God made all women beautiful and men enjoying looking, I understand that and I also understand that some women use it to there benefit to get what they want. I’m not trying to make it sound like the women are to blame. Let’s go back to the Garden of Eden. In Geneses chapter 3 the serpent came to Eve. The deceiver had a conversation with her. Then the lie came in verse 4 when he told her “ye shall not surely die.” Then look at verses 5 & 6:  5For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. The lie completed the deception.  She saw that the tree was good for food and that it was pleasant to the eyes.

This is how sin works. There was some truth mixed in with the lie. Sin pleases the eye and it pleases the flesh, but there is only pleasure in sin for a season. What price does one pay for deception and sin? It took Adam to complete the sin. In other words in this case it took two.

Women that exploit there beauty to get what they want only works if the man accepts in other words it takes two.

I would like to think that a Christian woman and a Christian man would be strong enough to avoid this kind of temptation, but sadly this is not always the case.

Now you can turn the tables, some men are able to exploit their good looks to get what they want out of women. Men will even take it a step farther and promise a woman anything to get what they want then they drop them like dirty laundry when they get it.

Let’s go back to the porn sites for a few minutes. They degrade women. They change a mans perspective of what a real woman is. It is hard for a man who falls into this trap to distinguish between what is real and what is fictional. What about young boys who see this stuff by accident? I say by accident because it is out there looking for them. It could set there outlook toward women. They can even expect things that just can’t happen.

Proverbs chapter 31 verse 30: Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

Husbands respect your wife. Men show women the respect they deserve. Do not get caught up in the unreal world of porn, if you do get help.

God created woman from man because he saw the he was alone and therefore a woman is a gift to man from God. Men treat your woman as a gift something to be cherished and loved.

I am curious. Are my post being read? My prayer is that they are. I also pray that each post is informative, inspirational and what God wants me to write. If you are reading please leave me a comment even if you do not agree with me.

I pray about what God want me to write about in this blog. I wanted to write Friday but I couldn’t seem to get a thought. I now ask that God would guide this entry and that He would get all the glory and that it honor Him.

I completed a whirlwind trip to New York last week for work.  This by far is the biggest place I have ever been. I am a country boy raised on a farm in Tennessee. There were more people there than I had ever seen in my life. To say I felt out of place is an understatement.

If you read the post before this one you know that I had a few reservations about flying, but I want you to know that God granted peace. I had peace before I left work last Monday. I told my Sunday school class yesterday that I just couldn’t describe the peace I felt and as I write this morning I still can not put into words the way I felt. I knew that everything was going to be okay. I also told the class yesterday that I had to get to a place where I would accept whatever God sent and to know that whatever the outcome was that it was God’s will.

In Isaiah chapter 9 verses 6 and 7 Isaiah is prophesying about the birth of Jesus. 6For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Now where did the peace I received about my trip last week come from? It came from “The Prince of Peace” our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Isaiah chapter 32: 17And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.  18And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places; Isaiah was blessed with the knowledge that he was given. I believe he truly was a great profit of God.

In Mark chapter 4 Jesus rebuked the wind and said unto the sea “Peace, be still. And the wind ceased and there was great calm.

Jesus spoke peace into my heart one time as a fifteen year old boy when he saved me and made me whole.  Jesus again spoke peace to my heart last week when he told me everything was going to be okay.

Jesus still wants to save you today he can still speak peace to your heart, he can still save you make you born again make you a fit subject for immortal glory. If you’re lost he wants to do that for you. Are you willing or do you want to continue to go the way you are? Do you want to go to Heaven? One thing is sure you will spend eternity somewhere. Will it be in Heaven or will it be in Hell which will be dumped into the lake of fire? Ask yourself this question: Where will you spend eternity?

If you answer is Hell then I pray that you are saved before it is too late. You can only be saved when the Holy Sprit draws you and you truly believe that Jesus is the son of God and he died on the cross and rose again, and you pray “your” prayer asking God to forgive you.

Until next time may God Bless You! Smile

[Prayer Request ] February 04, 2008 14:38

Tomorrow I will take my first commercial airliner flight to New York. Now let me set this up for you. I am a country boy, some would call me a “hillbilly” some might even consider me a “redneck”.

I’m not sure which category I fall into but one thing is for sure (or at least for sure in my mind) I will stick out like a sore thumb. I would like to just be able to blend in and not be noticed (but I also know that as a Christian; a person can tell that you don’t fit in with the world, if that’s the case then I will be fine with being noticed). As a Christian we should desire to be different from the world. I am traveling for training purposes for my job and I will be with a group of Tennesseans however I do not know anyone personally just by voices over the phone.

I was able to print my boarding pass this morning (one less thing to worry about).  I received the training itinerary so I have a general ideal about what we will be doing. Tuesday and Thursday are both travel days with Wednesday being the only actual training day.

Wednesday we are having dinner at Puglia. This will most likely be the place I will have the opportunity to stand out. I do not drink, never have been a drinker and with the Lord’s grace I never will. I feel the group that I will be with want see things the same way I do, but as long as God can be pleased with my example everything will be okay.

I know some men and have heard about others that use a business trip to forget about church, family and what people think about them. This makes me wonder if they know God the way I do or if they love their family the way I love my family. I don’t want to do that. Why would anyone who loves there family want to do that? Anyway this is getting me off subject.  If you want to know not only how I feel and what is biblical see one of my previous post… 58 years of marriage.

I thought when I took this job I would not be traveling again. The farthest away from my family that I have been was to the city where my previous company had there division headquarters 400 miles or six hours. I am now preparing to travel farther away from my home and family than I have ever been and what’s more I’m going on a commercial plane, which means flying???

I have been on a small plane before but never a big one. I have never been inside of a large airport before (see above where I referred to myself as a hillbilly).

So anyway I have read up on what I should expect from being at the airport to being on the plane and I think I am as ready as I am going to get.

I told the Sunday school class yesterday that I was not ready to admit that I am scared but I am a little nervous. I’m still not ready to admit that I am scared.  I also requested that if they had time they might pray for the pilots. I pray that they would be Christian people, because if something goes wrong there the first to know… maybe they would pray. God hears the prayers of his people.

I do believe that everything is going to be alright. As a Christian person I have the ability to cast all my cares upon the Master, but as a man in the flesh I also have the ability to take it back from Him. The spiritual man is okay, the mortal man is very nervous. I pray I can bring the mortal man a little closer to the spiritual man and feel more comfortable when I am flying.

On my way into work this morning Kent Davis was talking about being a pilot, he said that there is a checklist that is gone over before a plane takes off. God knows that I am worried about this so I believe that this message was sent to me to calm my fears. It worked, but it did not take long for that mortal man to come back around.  God is there for us ready to calm all fear if we will only ask and be receptive to what he is telling us.

Do you have a fear of hell? If you are a lost soul you should live in fear. Maybe you’re someone who thinks that I’m a good person God want send me to hell.  Jesus told Nicodemus in John chapter 3 “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”  This explains salvation in a nut shell. You must be born again to reach heaven and immortal glory. Jesus was speaking here, this is the only way you must be saved born again or you will not see the kingdom of Heaven!

If you are not saved, born again, if you continue in the condition you are in unrepentant you will one day hear 27But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.   28There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out. This is found in Luke chapter 13.

What fear you will feel then, cast into hell which shall be poured into the lake of fire and burn forever.

My fear is only temporary because God is already at work calming me. I pray he calms my family’s fear as well. I pray they will be alright while I am gone, that momma can be strong, that the boys will help and Ethan and my little girl will not worry, dear God watch over and keep my family and me, calm all fear.

I will try and update when I get back Friday. I hope I even have a few pictures to share.

If you have a moment I desire your prayers for my family and me.

Until next time may God Bless You!
