All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 17That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. ~ 2 Timothy 3:16 - 17
Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. ~ 1st John 3: 7 – 10First of all I want too start out by saying we are too study the word of God. The scripture is given by inspiration of God. It is profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness. We are too study that the man of God may be perfect and thoroughly furnished unto all good works. We can find everything we need in God’s Holy Word too cover any situation we can find ourselves in. It is our road map. It was given too us by our Creator with an expectation that we would use it.deaconfarley | September 12, 2008 07:51
Let me get something out of the way before I begin my post today. Today’s subject will step on some toes; they may be my toes, your toes or everyone’s toes.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I want the truth to be known. Sometimes the truth hurts. I hope and pray that you would read this entire post and take it for love, because that is why I am writing today.
Do you know what vain babblings are? In second Timothy chapter two and the sixteenth verse Paul warns us to shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
Sometimes I believe if you want too see vain babblings all you have too do is turn the television news on.Too fully understand what I am getting at today we will have too back up one verse in this chapter starting at verse 15 and read through vers 19. 15Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness. 17And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. 19Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
First of all we are told to study to show thyself approve unto God. I fail God in my studies. We are too study the Word so that we will not fall for profane or vain babblings. This is where I think a lot of people go wrong. By listing to profane words or vain babblings we offer satan the opportunity too use all that profanity or cheap talk to take your mind away from God. Let that last sentence sink in before you read any more.
Do you understand why these profane and vain babbling lead to ungodliness? Do you understand how easy a person’s mind can be persuaded? Do you understand how a person can become distracted and fall into sin?
Look at the things going on around us in the world. We now have judges and states that have legislated gay marriages. We have other states and I am sure other judges considering it. We have all kinds of filth coming from Hollywood. We have all kinds of filth on the internet. Never before has so much corruption been so accessible.
Have these people truly studied the Word of God. I would say no! If they studied the Word, the Word would condemn their actions and their lifestyles.
How does something like this get started? It is because people have allowed satan an opportunity to plant profane and babbling words or images into their minds. Has someone ever told you that you needed too plant a seed for God? Did you realize that satan has his people out in the world panting seeds for him? Do you understand that by listing to vain babblings you can let yourself believe that maybe this sin isn’t as bad as what I thought it was? No matter what vain babblings convince you of sin is sin. God has not changed so what gives us the right too think that sin has changed?
Verse 17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some. These two people erred. That is plain. They were wrong in what they were spreading. This is another reason we are too study. We can listen too a great many television preachers (now I am not talking about all) and find that what they are saying is in error. Again, this is another reason too study.
Now look at verse 19 and the promise that it carries: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. I have read Timothy several times and I love the teaching that is there. I never caught the meaning of this verse before today. By just looking at it we should take comfort. It says nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, the Lord knoweth them that are his. If this doesn’t send chills down your back I don’t know what could. I especially like the part about the foundation of God standeth sure. That foundation has been around from the beginning. That is a place we can stand if we will allow God too use us.Look at what Matthew Henry’s Commentary had too say on this little passage of scripture: The apostle mentions some who erred. They did not deny the resurrection, but they corrupted that true doctrine. Yet nothing can be so foolish or erroneous, but it will overturn the temporary faith of some professors. This foundation has two writings on it. One speaks our comfort. None can overthrow the faith of any whom God hath chosen. The other speaks our duty. Those who would have the comfort of the privilege, must make conscience of the duty Christ gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity.
Do you realize that rat poison has very little poison in it? It is 99% good food for the rat. Do you see how sin works? You must stand on the foundation of God, read and study so that the 1% of poison will not sneak up on you and kill your belief.
That poison is the babbling I am talking about. It is sin. We must hate sin and avoid it. While I am still on my “soap box” this morning let me say one more thing. If you are going too write on a subject from the bible, be sure it is the truth. On one of the blogs this morning I noticed one that was loaded with nothing but absolute filth. Again I say call sin what it is. It is sin!
God Bless You!

Part II
Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. ~ Matthew 10:8 This was Jesus’ instruction to his twelve apostles (disciples). He was getting ready too send them out into the country too preach about the Kingdom of Heaven being at hand. ~ Matthew 10:7 He told them where too go, what too take and what they were too do when they entered a town or a house. This brings me too my question(s); do you know anyone that has the power too heal the sick? Do you know anyone who has the power to cleanse the lepers? Do you know anyone who has the power to raise the dead? These are not “trick questions”.
Do you realize that no one today has this same power, the power that Jesus gave his disciples? There are many people in the world that claim too have this power. For a price you can be healed. Do you understand what I just said? For a price you can be healed. How can this be what Jesus wanted or meant for us too do. Are people being healed this way? Look at the last part of the verse above freely ye have received, freely give. If this power was given too us it should be freely given.
I received this comment on my last post “HE has that power and does still today heal.” The HE she was referring too was Jesus and she is 100% correct. She went on too say that she had been in healing services before where her spirit was quite restless. Here is the rest of her comment “I learned something once about testing the spirits; things should "bear witness" with the Spirit within...and I wrinkle my brow at some of the things I have seen, but I pray RIGHT THEN that God will work in these situations. I try not to quench the Holy Spirit when confronted with these healing episodes and I try to focus on Christ alone. If he wanted to use someone to heal the masses, He would.”
I cannot disagree with her comment. She is correct in cautioning us too “test the spirits”. I must also say that if any healing happened it was because of God and not because of man. I also agree that if HE wanted to use someone to heal the masses, HE would, but I see no one out that healing the masses, do you?
I have heard of people being healed. It was through prayer. It was because God saw fit too send healing. It was not because one person had a power too heal, but because God healed.
The text from Matthew was part of my Sunday School lesson this past Sunday. The thing that really stuck out in my mind was the fact that Jesus gave his disciples power like his. I mean power to heal, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out devils. What really got me was the fact that they could raise the dead. For some reason this had never jumped out at me before.
Now I can find nowhere in the bible where the disciples raised anyone from the dead. If anyone knows where the disciples raised the dead, please put the book, chapter and verse in the comments.
Now let me say that our Father and the Son in Heaven still has the power too heal, cleanse and too raise the dead. Can they give that power too anyone? The simple answer is yes, but again I will point out the fact that I can not find anywhere in the bible that the disciples raised the dead nor can I find anywhere that this power was given too anyone else.
What about being raised from the dead? Again no one today has this power. Can someone show me in the bible the KJV version where anyone else after Jesus and his disciples had this power?
A lady I work with had tragedy happen in her family almost two weeks ago. Her husband’s nephews were in an accident where a dump truck ran a red light. It killed one of the boys (a senior in high school) instantly. The other boy is scheduled too have more surgery later this week.
This accident happened over 800 miles from Tennessee. She just got back Sunday. She made it back too work and we were talking about how sad it was and how sad the funeral was. The parents are understandably hurt, broken up inside and grasping at straws. The things she came back and told me got me too thinking. This led too all the questions I had.
I know this lady very well and I believe what she told me. I also know that her take on everything she described is the same as mine. She said she had never experienced a funeral like this young man’s before.
This young man was active in his church and very popular at school. The funeral lasted for over three hours. She went on to say how the young man’s dad told them he wanted him to be resurrected. That’s right, resurrected. The preacher prayed for this too happen. The young man’s friends were chanting wake up, wake up, wake up over and over.
She said all but the immediate family was sent out too their cars to wait for the procession too begin to the grave yard. She noticed the funeral director talking with the police and then the funeral director began taking the flags off the cars. Her husband asked what was going on and the director told him the boy’s dad refused to bury him today.
The next day they had another service for this young man. He still did not get out of the coffin. If this young man was saved do you think he would want too come back?
Why am I telling you this? It is because the boy is still dead. This young man was finally buried on September 8th; this was eleven days after the accident. The parents refused too go to the grave yard.
Don’t you think that if someone had the power to heal or to raise people from the dead that they would be at the hospitals? What about all the little children that have a dreaded disease?
If I had this power I know where I would be.
If you were able too read this entire post, I hope and pray that I did not confuse anyone.
God Bless You!

In my next post I will give you biblical answers too these questions. You may be asking yourselves why is he asking questions he knows the answers too. You are going to have too wait until my next post, but please comment I am curious too get your answers.
