Continuing with 1st John chapter 4 we will pick up with verse 12 today. I hope and pray you have kept up with this study so far.
At the end of my last post I made this comment “I want you to take a moment and think about how good God is to us, then take a moment and think about how good you are to God.” I did not intend for this sentence to over shadow my post. I must also tell you that it pertains to me as much as it does anyone else. If you read the last post I do hope that my closing statement spoke to you. I hope you thought about it.
Have you tried the spirits yet to see if they are of God? Remember, this is from the first post on this chapter.
Now let’s look at verse 12 and 13. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
What do these two verses say to you? No man (that is mortal man) hath seen God at any time. Okay I understand that. Now here is a big question, do we love one another? Read the rest of the verse; If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. How many Christian people do you know that seem unhappy? Why do we, and yes I must include myself in this, but why do we, God’s people walk around sad, unhappy, mad or even defeated? Didn’t it just say His love is perfected in us? Yes it did. So why aren’t we happy? Why aren’t we telling more people about Jesus and why he died for us? I have a lot of questions for you to consider so far today, take each one seriously. Think about these questions, feel free to answer within yourself or even leave me a comment. Be honest not only with your comment, but with yourself.
Okay let’s move on to verse 13. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. A Christian person should delight in the fact that we dwell in him and more importantly He in us, because He hath given us His Spirit. We ought to walk around with a huge tooth shining smile on our faces all the time. Think about that. Praise GOD! ~ His love could not be designed to be fruitless upon us, and when its proper end and issue are gained and produced, it may be said to be perfected. So faith is perfected by its works. Thus it will appear that God dwells in us by his new-creating Spirit. A loving Christian is a perfect Christian; set him to any good duty, and he is perfect to it, he is expert at it. Love oils the wheels of his affections, and sets him on that which is helpful to his brethren. A man that goes about a business with ill will, always does it badly. That God dwells in us and we in him, were words too high for mortals to use, had not God put them before us. ~ Matthew Henry.
Think about what a testimony we have. Think about your blessings and what God has done for you. Be blessed and happy today. If you are a Christian keep that smile upon your face. Who knows, someone may ask why you are smiling and then…
God Bless You!

No. I did not take you comment to be negative. I just did not know how powerful that last sentence was until after my post was published.
God Bless!
